The works at Ras Ajdir

The works lies a few kilometres east of the Tunisian border on the Gulf of Gabès, the ancient Syrtis Minor. According to company registration documents, Al Mozan (registered name Almozon Al Nafa Company; commercial file no. 24849, licence no. 3024849) holds government agreement No. 05 dated 28 September 2020 for solar salt production at Ras Ajdir, with a 20-year term and a 10-year extension option. The basins have been built in three phases totalling 65 hectares. Seawater and sabkha brine concentrate through a sequence of ponds; salt is harvested from the crystallisers each summer, washed, stockpiled and loaded by conveyor for truck transport to Zuwara or Tripoli.

Laboratory reports on washed salt from the works (2016 and 2026) show 98.7–99.4 % sodium chloride; an ISO 17025 panel has been commissioned to confirm them. We publish those reports on the /quality/ page rather than summarising them, and we state production capacity only as documented availability per season.

How we work

  • One contract with Al Mozan, under English or Ontario law with ICC arbitration, handled by our export sales office in Canada with operations at the works in Libya.
  • Independent inspection is standard. SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek sample and certify quality and quantity at the load port; those results are final.
  • Documents before payment. Certificate of analysis, inspection certificate, certificate of origin, packing list and bill of lading are presented under letter of credit or cash-against-documents terms.
  • Compliance pack on request. Sanctions screening of counterparties, vessels and banks against UN, EU, UK, OFAC and Canadian lists; company registration, banking and insurance details for your KYC.

What we do not claim

No certifications, customers, shipping history or capacity figures appear on this site unless documented. Where information is not yet available we say so, and we mark it as available upon request or subject to documentation. Food, fishery and feed grades are sold only after the full analytical panel is complete. No salt is "organic" or "100 % pure", and we do not use those words.

Who we are

The company is family-run in Libya, with export sales managed from Ontario, Canada. The team works in English and Arabic. Company registration details, bank references and insurance certificates are available to buyers on request. Site photographs on this website are by Najme Almansory.
