The works
Ras Ajdir salt works, Zuwara District. Washed salt is stockpiled, drained and loaded onto trucks by conveyor.
Load port
Tripoli, about 170 km by road, for coasters, Handysize and containers; Zuwara, about 60 km, for small coasters; Zarzis, Tunisia, by road under customs transit.
Vessel
Coasters of 3,000–10,000 t for the Mediterranean and the UK; Handysize of 20,000–35,000 t for the North Sea, the Baltic and the Atlantic; 20-ft containers of big bags or bags.
Your terminal
Grab or mobile-crane discharge for bulk; containers to inland processors. Load-port certificates travel with the documents.

War-risk premiums apply to Libyan port calls (Lloyd’s Joint War Committee listed area) and are included in CFR and CIF quotations.
Incoterms 2020
- FOB Tripoli or Zuwara
- Standard for bulk. You nominate the vessel; we deliver on board within the laycan and provide the load-port documents.
- CFR or CIF your port
- We charter on your laycan and include freight, and war-risk cover under CIF.
- FCA Tripoli
- Containers of big bags or bags handed to your carrier at the terminal.
- DAP Tunisia
- Cross-border truck deliveries to Zarzis, Gabès or Sfax under customs transit.
Packaging
- Bulk
- Loose in hold; anti-caking treatment on request.
- Big bags
- 1,000 kg woven polypropylene with liner, 20 per 20-ft container.
- Bags
- 25 kg or 50 kg, palletised and shrink-wrapped, about 24 t per 20-ft container.
Documents with every shipment
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Certificate of origin from the Libyan chamber of commerce, legalised on request (Libya is not an Apostille member)
- Certificate of analysis for the lot
- Independent load-port quality and quantity certificate
- Bill of lading or sea waybill, and the insurance certificate under CIF
- Safety data sheet for sodium chloride on request
Timing
Harvest runs from June to October. Buyers who contract between March and July for delivery before winter get first allocation of the stockpile; spot parcels are quoted from stock during the season, subject to availability.
